Obituary:
Born May 11, 1929, passed away December 14, 2021 in Ukiah, where she resided for 45 years. Ruth was born to Tina Bowman and Seth Welch in St. Charles, VA. They moved to Fincastle, TN. When she was a small child her father was a coal miner and the couple also owned a grocery store. Her brother Seth Welch Jr. was in the Navy and she followed him out to San Diego, CA in her early 20’s. Ruth worked in a grocery store in San Diego as a meat wrapper. This is where she met my dad, Frank Pereira.
Ruth was active in two local churches. She was a wonderful mother, excellent cook and dear friend who will be truly missed by all who knew her.
She leaves behind a daughter Colette Pereira Hatfield, son-in-law Michael Hatfield and granddaughter Brooke Hatfield.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 1pm at the Ukiah United Methodist Church.
